HOW CAN WE ASSIST YOU?

Solar PV system costs vary depending on your roof size, energy usage, and the type of property – home, business, or farm.

  • Homes: Typically between €6,000 and €10,000 before grants.
  • Businesses and farms: Larger systems can range from €15,000 to €100,000+, depending on size and complexity.

With government supports, these costs can be reduced significantly. North Cork Electrical provides a detailed quote and ROI estimate so you’ll know exactly what to expect before installation.

There are a number of government grant schemes available to help reduce the cost of solar PV across Ireland.

Grant eligibility depends on the property, system and scheme requirements. Before proceeding, check the relevant requirements below or contact North Cork Electrical and we’ll help you identify which option may be suitable.

Homeowners

The SEAI Solar PV Grant can provide up to €1,800 towards the installation of solar PV.

To qualify, the home must:

• Have an MPRN
• Have been built and occupied before 2021
• Not have previously received SEAI solar PV funding at that MPRN
• Have the solar PV system installed by an SEAI-registered company

Important: Your SEAI grant must be approved before the installation work begins. Once approved, you generally have 8 months to complete the installation and submit the required documentation.

Farms & Agricultural Businesses

Farms have two potential routes to solar support, depending on the circumstances of the farm and the proposed installation.

Option 1: SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant

The SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) is available to the agricultural sector as well as businesses, schools, community organisations and other eligible applicants.

Grant support is based on the size of the solar PV system, with funding available up to €162,600 for eligible installations.

The scheme covers systems up to 1,000kWp and is designed for sites with electricity demand and on-site consumption.

The premises must generally have been built and occupied on or before 31 December 2020, and grant approval must be received before work or material purchases begin.

Option 2: TAMS 3 Solar Capital Investment Scheme

Eligible farmers may also be able to apply through the TAMS 3 Solar Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS).

The scheme provides a 60% grant rate, with a €90,000 investment ceiling specifically for solar investments.

TAMS can be an excellent option for eligible farms, but the application process is more involved and is managed through the Department of Agriculture’s TAMS system.

Businesses

Businesses may be eligible for the SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant, which provides tiered support based on the size of the solar PV installation.

Grant support is available up to €162,600 for eligible installations.

The scheme is available for systems up to 1,000kWp, subject to the relevant SEAI requirements. The premises must generally have been built and occupied on or before 31 December 2020, and grant approval must be in place before work begins.

Businesses may also be able to benefit from tax incentives such as the Accelerated Capital Allowance (ACA) when investing in qualifying energy-efficient equipment.

Check Your Eligibility

Grant schemes have specific eligibility requirements, and these can vary depending on the type and age of the property, the applicant and the proposed solar installation.

Before starting any work, check the relevant grant requirements and make sure approval is in place where required.

North Cork Electrical is an SEAI-registered solar PV installer. We can help you understand the available options and guide you through the solar installation process.

Savings depend on your property type, energy use, and system design – but most customers save up to 50-85% on electricity costs.
Homes often offset most of their daytime electricity, while farms and businesses with high daytime use can see even greater returns. Many customers also earn credits for excess energy fed back to the grid.

We only install premium panels that come with 25-year performance warranties and an expected lifespan of 30+ years.

While output gradually reduces over time, modern panels are highly durable and require minimal maintenance. North Cork Electrical systems are designed for long-term reliability and maximum performance.

Absolutely. Solar panels generate power from daylight, not direct sunlight – meaning they work efficiently even on cloudy days.

Ireland’s mild temperatures actually help solar panels perform better, as they operate more efficiently in cooler conditions.

Yes, through the Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS), you can export unused electricity and receive credit of up to 24c per kWh from your supplier.

This helps you reduce payback time and boosts your return on investment. North Cork Electrical can help set up your export meter and paperwork to make the process seamless.

Most residential systems are completed in 1-2 days, while larger commercial or agricultural systems may take several days depending on scale.

Our team handles everything – from site assessment and design to installation, grid connection, and aftercare.

In most cases, yes. If you have suitable roof space or ground area with good daylight exposure, solar PV can make a strong financial and environmental impact.
